Box Office Representative
The Box Office Representative performs and oversees a variety of customer service functions for the Lensic Performing Arts Center box office and day-to-day contact, interaction, and problem resolution for ticket-buying customers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Possess good analytical, strong interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• The ability to work accurately with attention to detail in a high-volume sales environment.
• The ability to communicate effectively in person and on the phone with the general public and box office staff with regards to performances, ticket sales, memberships, theater information, seat locations, prices, etc.
• Answer phones and return voice messages promptly.
• The ability to process ticket sales requests through Tessitura Ticketing System.
• Assist customers with purchasing online tickets.
• Responsible for cash management including cash and credit card purchases, cash drawer balancing, assure adequate cash availability and end of day batch closures/balancing.
• Print and prepare Will call batches.
• Print and prepare Mail batches.
• Process promoter and/or artist seat holds and seat releases based on promoter/artist request.
• Perform Will Call desk duties (greet and assist customers with Will Call ticket purchases and operate laptop and Tessitura Ticketing System.)
• Perform day of show box office functions (selling and printing tickets, cash/credit card purchases, provide performance information, etc.)
• The ability to troubleshoot and develop solutions for ticketing difficulties, stay informed by utilizing resources available (procedures, performance/event file information, promoter and founding group season/event brochures, Lensic Performing Arts Center website, etc.)
• Follow daily box office opening and closing procedures. Set the building alarm on non-show weekend days at the end of shift.
• Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Entry level position.
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/patrons and staff.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office—Word, Excel, and Outlook.)
• Must be able to work under pressure, maintaining a positive attitude and composure.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• High school diploma or GED required. Associate (or higher) degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs., sit for long periods and use a computer, and perform telephone work.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment.
