June 27, 2019 (SANTA FE, NM) — The Lensic proudly announces three new Great Art on Screen broadcasts at The Lensic. The Great Art on Screen documentary series provides audiences with in-depth looks at the most extraordinary and groundbreaking art masters of their time.

Tickets: Tickets for these Great Art on Screen broadcasts go on sale at 10 am on Monday, July 1, 2019 (pre-sale for Lensic members at the $100+ level starts Friday, June 28). Tintoretto: A Rebel in Venice

Tintoretto: A Rebel in Venice, narrated by award-winning actor Helena Bonham Carter, fully immerses audiences in the life of the last great artist of the Italian Renaissance. The film takes viewers to places in Venice that evoke and preserve the memory of the painter, including the State Archives, the Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Square, the Church of San Rocco, and more, all in celebration of the 500th anniversary of Tintoretto’s birth. Running time: 90 minutes.

Gauguin in Tahiti: Paradise Lost

This fascinating film traces the legendary life story of post-Impressionist artist Paul Gauguin, who left France for Tahiti in the late 1890s to immerse himself in nature, seeking feelings, visions, and colors that were ever purer and brighter. Gauguin in Tahiti takes viewers to Tahiti and to the American museums where Gauguin’s greatest masterpieces are now preserved, including New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, and Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts. Running time: 90 minutes.

Award-winning actor Jeremy Irons hosts a celebration of the 200th anniversary of Madrid’s storied Prado Museum. On this spell-binding cinematic journey through one of the world’s greatest art galleries, viewers experience the story of Spain and beyond through the works of Vélazquez, Rubens, Titian, Mantegna, Bosch, Goya, El Greco, and more. Running time: 90 minutes.
