Audio
The Lensic uses three discrete sound systems to accommodate the wide variety of events that take place in the theater. A concert sound system handles amplified live music, theater, and speaking events. The Acoustic Control System works in conjunction with our concert shell to enhance the sound of choral and orchestral performances, while a cinema system provides Dolby surround sound for movie screenings. The venue has been set up to create an excellent acoustic environment for the diverse programming on stage.
For Concerts, Theater, and Lectures
The primary house sound system is a d&b Q-Series line array flown left and right of the proscenium. The main arrays are supplemented with d&b front fills and balcony fills to achieve even and consistent coverage throughout the venue. The main arrays can be flown out of sight when not in use.
The Lensic uses Midas PRO2 digital mixers at front of house and monitor positions.
Eight monitor mixes are available on stage with 15″ d&b MAX2 coaxial wedges.
For Chamber, Symphony, and Choral Performances
The Lensic employs an independent Acoustic Control System (ACS) and a Wenger Diva Acoustical Shell to enhance the acoustics of the hall. With 18 microphones and 64 speakers discreetly placed throughout the theater, we can control the perceived size and resonance of the space for the audience and musicians on stage. This allows us to transparently recreate the acoustic environments of much larger and more lively concert halls when needed.
For Film and Video Screenings
A fully independent Dolby Surround 5.1 cinema audio system provides surround sound in the entire theater. See the Film and Video page for more details.
